Man found dead in GV pool

Published: Tuesday, October 20, 2009 11:48 AM MST

A 19-year-old man drowned at a swimming pool in the Villas East subdivision in Green Valley early Tuesday.

Pima County Sheriff’s deputies said clothing belonging to the victim, Jacob Todd Rowley, was in a chair in the pool area and he was wearing a bathing suit when he was found about 7:30 a.m. by a Villas East employee.

Deputies have ruled it an accidental drowning.

Rowley was from Montana and was visiting family in Green Valley. According to the Sheriff’s Office, “There is some suspicion that Mr. Rowley did not know how to swim.”

Autopsy and official autopsy results are pending.

There was a surveillance camera at the pool but “apparently it didn’t get anything on the tape,” according to a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
