Border Patrol agents near Ajo chased three suspected cattle rustlers back into Mexico on Saturday morning after detecting them on a mobile surveillance system.

The agents from the Ajo Station saw the three people on horseback and, because it was a remote area, determined they were not local ranchers.

Agents gave chase but were unable to catch the three before they returned to Mexico, according to the Border Patrol.

" This is an old, old story. Happens all the time all along the border in Santa Cruz County, according to the Sheriff.

It's also a two-way enterprise. Mexican and US law enforcement personnel routinely work together to combat rustling.

My favorite truly preposterous story about cattle, though, is that migrants kill them to have a barbeque. No so according to the Sheriff and local ranchers. "
