Several Green Valley residents reported items missing from their vehicles Wednesday morning.

The four vehicles located at the 1400 and 1600 blocks of North La Canoa (in Green Valley Vistas and Pueblo Estates), 100 block of Calle Montana Jack and 200 block of Calle McCleary (both in Country Club Vistas) were all unlocked, according to Sheriff’s reports. There are no suspects at this time.

  • A Sahuarita mobile home on South Delgado Road was destroyed by a fire Wednesday evening.

The double-wide trailer caught fire at approximately 6 p.m. and was almost fully engulfed when Rural/Metro firefighters arrived on the scene. The fire is believed to have been started by a faulty water heater.

The residents evacuated the trailer when they noticed smoke coming from the bathroom, and were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene; one person suffering from respiratory problems was taken to University Physicians Hospital in Tucson.

  • A vehicle full of illegal immigrants led Pima County Sheriff’s officers on a high-speed chase last week after failing to yield to a traffic stop. Officers stopped the vehicle, which was registered out of Phoenix, at the Chevron Station on Continental Road at approximately 4 a.m.

  • The driver fled the scene, driving at upward of 80 miles-per-hour to the desert area near Camino Encanto and the west frontage road.

The vehicle stopped near a large ravine and its driver and passenger fled on foot through the desert. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspects.

Six illegal immigrants were found in the vehicle and turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol.

  • Robert Lee Dent, 35, was cited last week for shoplifting at the Safeway in the Continental Shopping Plaza.

Dent was chased and handcuffed by Safeway security guards after running out of the store with three bottles of alcohol valued at nearly $100.

Pima County Sheriff’s officers arrived on the scene; he was cited and released.

  • A 17-year-old Sahuarita resident was cited last week for possession of drug paraphernalia after officers found a methamphetamine pipe hidden in his vehicle.

A Pima County Sheriff’s officer stopped the vehicle at the intersection of West Camino Encanto and the west frontage road due to an improperly displayed temporary license plate, which was discovered to be expired. While conducting a routine search, the officer found the pipe, which contained methamphetamine residue, hidden inside a first aid kit.

The teen was cited for possession and received a traffic ticket for expired plates.
